Unlocking the great reader in every child

Our Why
Only one-third of students in America read at grade level. Our kids deserve better.

The Research
Research tells us that readers who do not exceed a certain decoding level – known as the decoding threshold – cannot access reading comprehension and won’t show growth in reading proficiency. We can change this. Read more about what we're learning.

The Solution
- K–2 Literacy Tool
Magpie’s K–2 tool is already in classrooms nationwide, giving young readers year-round support in building foundational literacy skills. In just 60 minutes per week, students engage with a blend of research-based instructional videos and interactive games that target the essential building blocks of early reading: phonemic awareness, decoding and encoding, word chaining, letter formation, print concepts, high-frequency words, and meaningful reading practice. - 3–8 Literacy Tool
Our next big leap—the 3–8 literacy tool—is currently in development. Guided by insights from educators and students in communities across the country, this tool is being co-designed to ensure it meets the real needs of upper elementary and middle school learners. These collaborations are shaping our MVP and laying the foundation for a resource as impactful as our K–2 program.
